We have developed halogen-free flame retarded PP

On assignment of Swedish Rescue Services Agency (http://www.srv.se/) we have formulated halogen-free flame retarded polypropylene based system. In the study ( see below )  we have shown that the best way to achieve the maximum fire-retardant properties is to combine several of the fire retarding mechanisms by selecting suitable additives. We have used additives that have combined mechanisms. We have showen very good fire retardant properties without affecting the material. Since, the formulations comprise of several commercially available additives at rather low loadings, the formulations are not expected to have high price compared to the present alternatives.

Dr Swaraj Paul hopes that this product will replace all existing flame retardant systems that include halogenbased flame retardants and thereby it will influence our environment positivily in the long run.
